![]() ![]() In an interesting twist, the books alternate between the hero and heroine as first person narrator which gives a perspective that was new and fun. ![]() Not shocked but surprised, I am unaccustomed to certain words being bandied about, nor do I necessarily like it when they are. The Beautiful series love scenes were not much more explicit than a fairly typical romance other than greater frequency and the use of rougher language than I am used to. I would have thought that the main difference was in courtship by coitus and the point at which emotions become involved, but there are plenty of romances where sex precedes love, so it really just comes down to the level of detail. The Beautiful series is reasonably inept romance and reasonably ept erotica, although I don’t really know where the rumple in the sheet lies between the two. ![]() 6/12/2023 0 Comments An untamed state book![]() ![]() The latter section of the novel, "Once Upon a Time," follows Mireille in the aftermath of her trauma, including her time living with Michael's mother, Lorraine, on the family farm in Nebraska.Ĭommentary on An Untamed State frequently cites the novel's emphasis on fairy tale. ![]() ![]() In the first portion of the book, called "Happily Ever After," the novel moves back and forth in time between Mireille's captivity and her earlier life, meeting and falling in love with husband Michael during graduate school in the Midwest of the United States. This sounded interesting in theory and the beginning of the book seemed promising, but the author's writing style didn't work for me. ![]() ![]() ![]() When he sprains his wrist and Gabi gets roped in to help, they realize they need to work together to save their parents’ shops but will the new feelings rising between them be enough to send their future plans up in smoke? Then Theo has an idea-sell photo-worthy food covertly at school to offset their losses. Between the Mori’s struggling shop and the Moreno’s plan to sell their bakery in the face of the competition, both boys find their dreams in jeopardy.
